Cast a line in the Mississippi River and Mississippi Lake

A mecca for anglers of every inclination, Carleton Place is the spot to fulfill your catch wish and restock your supply of fish tales year-round. Between river and lake, the Mississippi shelters enough creeks, hidey holes, habitats and spawning grounds to satisfy recreational and sports fishermen alike.

Up to a dozen fishing tournaments are launched from Riverside Park or nearby each year, making the competition for that perfect walleye, bass or northern pike—and the prize money—fierce!

On a lazy day, cast a line from the shore of Riverside Park and you might just take home dinner. Pan-fish aplenty abide in these waters from bluegills, pike and crappies to rock bass along with large and small-mouth bass.

Mississippi River offers a fantastic fly fishery in and around Carleton Place. Test your skills to “match the hatch,” take in spectacular scenery and cast away the day in wadeable stretches near McNeely Bridge, Arklan Island and Glen Isle. Multi-species fall fishing yields feisty small-mouth bass, walleye and pike.
